Bhaktapur and Nagarkot

November 29, 2013 we went on a trip to Bhaktapur and Nagarkot. Sister Nila Dodson from the Asia Area Office went with us and also Britain(Mendenhalls nephew) from Australia went. Bhaktapur is about 45 min. to an hour away from Kathmandu. It is an old town and has a town square called "Dubar Square" It has many old buildings and temples and very interesting architecture. After we visited there we drove another half hour up the mountain to Nagarkot to a resort hotel. It was a very beautiful view from there and the clouds lifted somewhat so we could see the Himalyian Mountains. We had lunch there.

Chilaunepani and Tibet Border

November 26, 2013 we went on our first trip out of Kathmandu Valley.  We went to a water project near Chilaunepani. We saw beautiful green fields and terraces and mountains.  We went on bumpy steep roads in a jeep. We went up the mountain and saw two water tanks, then went down to the bottom to the water source. It was a great adventure.  The Mendenhalls went with us. Afterwards we kept going and went to the Tibet, China border.

Mountain Flight

You can't visit Nepal without seeing Mt. Everest. We waited at the airport for 2 hours for the morning flight. It was about 50 minutes long. The mountains were amazing. It was interesting to see the valley and the terraces from the air too. The name of Mt. Everest is Sagarmatha.
